Cambodia:

You have heard of Angkor Wat ... you wouldn’t understand the dramatic effect that it has until you get there. Cambodia has a tumultuous history with many invasions or acts of conflict. Which makes these temples that much more special when you understand how they are still standing or why they have been broken apart. There are many temples that represent the clashing of religious changes between Hiniduism and Buddhism that manifest different temple styles.

The temples have many vibrant shades of brown represents the time passed. You can try to imagine the details when it was brand new. The feelings you get while visiting makes this the top place to experience temples. Not only are there temples everywhere in the area, each has its own story with different vibes you’re blessed with. Make sure to get at least the three day pass and take one of the tours for a day and maybe venture on your own for the other days. Just soak in the monumental life changing imagary.
Japan:
Japan had the prettiest temples and shrines that encapusalt such a rich history. The temples can symbolize many things from rulers to just a temple for prosperity. The term Japanese garden comes to mind because most of the temples included surgical manicured gardens made from rocks, water, or plants. You want to just create your own garden as soon as you get home. The temples of Japan are very sacred so make sure to treat them with respect. They are worth the time you spend to get there since the beauty is so astonishing. The place to visit some of the best temples in the country is Kyoto. The fox temple called Fushimi Inari reminded me of the anime Naruto. Or a temple with a zen garden formation that gives tranquility called Ryoan-ji. All worth it and just amazing.
Bali, Indonesia:

I would say that Indonesia (Bali to be specific) has the most interactive temples. Indonesia is mainly a muslim country but Bali is different because it is hindu which means they have many gods. Most of the temples own similar layouts, just the location and nature around these temples is what makes them special. There are temples where you need to be there at sunrise to create instagram worthy photos. There’s a temple where you jump into the water to purify your soul. There is even a temple in the middle of the ocean or a few have the best views of the ocean. You have many options when it comes to the temples. There is one in a cave or there is the famous monkey temple. Many of the temples you can access from Ubud however you will find temples are all over the Island.

Honorable Mention:
Korean Palaces
Korea isn’t the most religious country so there aren’t many travel worthy temples. There is one famous temple in Busan that over looks the ocean. On the other hand there were kings which they treated like gods. These kings created huge cities that are now palaces with ancient walls giving you the feeling you are in year 1400 Korea. Even after the Korean war most of the walls are still intact and astonishing as ever. The best part of these palaces besides the upkeep is how the culture of Korea celebrates the different seasons within the palace’s gorgeous gardens. The best seasons are when the Cherry Blossoms sprout up in spring or when the leaves changing colors in the fall.
