Popular places in Bali. Where to go in Asia

There are three main regions in Bali that you will stay. Besides these three, there are a few islands that you might visit named the Nusa'a or Gili's. However you will make a stop in at least one of these locations; Kuta, Uluwatu and Ubud. They are the three most popular areas where you will enjoy to spending some time. Soak in these parts of Bali like a hot tub since the experience is so rich and warm. Each location has their own vibe and experience.

Kuta

Hanging with the locals in Kuta

This area is just north of the Airport and made up of three areas. Kuta, Seminyak, and Canggu. All three towns are located near a beach. The most crowded is Kuta while you go north it gets less crowded but a similar feel. Kuta is known as a popular surf destination because the waves are nice and easy to learn how to surf. There are surf lessons provided everywhere! Even lounging on the beach, people will present themselves toxcore a surf lesson. Also Kuta is the place where you will get in some shopping and get excessive drinks since there are so bars and restaurants up the streets. As you go north to Seminyak the surfing continues but there's far less traffic and bars. On the flip side this place becomes more hip and expensive. This is somewhere you want to bring out your nicest bathing suit and bring the island fashion. While Canggu is the place where you will hear some reggae and world traveling digital nomads talk about all their adventures. The beach in Canggu is much smaller and a little more advanced surf than the others. When you put these three areas together you get the party time coupled with the surfing beach Bali that you hear about. It just matters which vibe you want… Party time and surf with the crowds (Kuta), Elegant long walks on the beach (Seminyak), or the mellow feels, where washing your hair is the hardest part of the day (Canggu).

Uluwatu

This region is south of the airport and quite different than the Kuta area. This is the area where you will be able to access surfers paradise waves that Bali is famous for. The waves crash just beautiful over the shallow reefs. The issue is you want to be at least a solid surfer to even attempt paddling out. The beaches can be very rocky so many of the top surf locations aren’t for crowded beach lounging. HOWEVER, they are some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever been too so worth the trip. The sunsets are just mesmerizing makes you feel like your life is complete and you will never see anything like that again. There's also very fun eateries in this area where a smoothie is never that far away. This part of town is pretty large but not too busy so I would be comfortable recommending a motorbike to trek around all the beaches. If you are looking to party there are also some high end ultra lounge beach club locations hidden around. Some beaches to visit are Dreamland, Uluwatu and Nyang Nyang. All are dramatically different but there is a taste for everyone around here. I left a piece of my heart during the sunsets and can't wait to go back to recover it.

Ubud

Tegallalang Rice Field

Ubud is debatable as the most famous city of Bali. The reason why its so popular slaps you right in the face right as soon as you drive into it. It's a little bit more urban than one would think but that energy feeds into the mystic. Its surrounded by rice fields to give the country feel while you have these rustic temples that gives spiritual radiance. The urban parts allows you to receive amenities such as top notch food along with amazing villas that have some amazing pool situations. While factoring all this in, Ubud also feels like its the yoga capital of the world. Where everyone is either going to or coming from a yoga class. Once you get out of the city center Ubud is quite dynamic because it has access to the best locations for a tourism and siteseeing. You might want to rent a bike, hire a driver or go by tour, just make sure to spend the time to visit some of the sites. There's many temples, rice fields, waterfalls, and hikes to encapsulating spirituality. You can physically feel the devine presence of why Ubud's such a popular destination. I recommend taking a week of your time to experience.
