When traveling you can have a lot of regrets, but most of the time I tried to focus on mindfulness and really take it in. After reflection there is only so much you can take in with out just living. I can tell you that each moment has something special and what you remember are the smallest little moments with explicit details.
This is a chat I had at work. I was asked this question, "What would you do differently?" (Thanks Allen A.) These are the few tips I responded in earnest.
We were always moving so I would tell someone to stay in a couple places and go from there. Cause moving all the time is exhausting. So when we were able to spend more than three days somewhere you really get the feel of it.
There are only a few excursions you need to book ahead of time, but having a time frame and book from there helps as in plane flights, boats, or bus rides to get around. Like say you have three weeks, book the planes to where you want to go cause that will save you a bunch of money. You don't need to book the place to stay as much. That helps having a plan on where to be and when to be there. You don't have to plan as much in between cause if you plan too much it gets exhausting and you don't just wing it. So put leisure on the schedule you know... like go to the specific spot just to rest, but when you leave it handle business.
I wish I would have done more nature hikes
A good mix of hikes, relaxing, and not too tough to travel is probably Thailand. Honestly could spends months there

Bali is kind of small but gorgeous also the beaches are more for surfing than relaxing. Less hikes yet gorgeous nature . Just great vibes.

Philippines is really tough to navigate around, but activities for everyone. Also the food is BOMB!
